My little girl really loves Strawberry Shortcake, the character, and Strawberry Shortcake, the cake! So she sat me down and said that is what she wanted for her 4th birthday! They grow up so fast, don't they? So I made vanilla cake, and filled each tier with vanilla cream and fresh strawberries. Each cake is iced in vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant. This fella was a hit at the Snake theme party for a little boy turning 5. All chocolate with chocolate icing and fondant. I made the design by baking two 8 inch cakes, and after icing them, I cut each in half with a smaller cutout in the middle. So imagine, each half cake looked like the letter "C". Then I merged them together to get the swirly shape and covered in icing. A lovely chocolate cake with chocolate icing, covered in fondant. Very girly, and cute, the grass took forever as i made individual cuts to create the look. Something tells me there is a much easier way LOL!!! I also made the cake topper from foamcore, glitter foam as well as cutouts and attachments.
Ingridhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00290938511583372407noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2240259190160362880.post-2079455032227465862013-04-23T21:00:00.003-04:002013-04-23T21:00:35.916-04:00Real Madrid Football cake

This is a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant. This was made a for an avid soccer fan of Real Madrid Football Club. Now as much as I'd like to take credit for the logo, its really a photo image transferred on to edible rice paper. Just a heads up, it is very tricky to remove it from the backing its attached to. It crumbles if you don't handle it gently!

Ingridhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00290938511583372407noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2240259190160362880.post-88230003457666376582013-04-23T20:56:00.004-04:002013-04-23T20:56:25.574-04:00Tropical Delight Birthday Cake

This character is featured in the game, but don't ask me what it is or does, I'm new to all that. This cake is Vanilla sour cream coverd in buttercream and fondant. The tounge is made from Rice Crispies, and covered in fondant. I cheated with the crown, and made it from gift wrap paper.Ingridhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00290938511583372407noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2240259190160362880.post-84394231649134643562011-11-22T23:03:00.004-05:002011-11-25T11:14:37.959-05:00Winnie The Pooh Baby Shower cakeAnother Baby Shower cake for a good friend.
This is a White Vanilla cake, with Buttercream icing and covered in fondant. Its all Red Velvet cake with cream cheese icing, covered in fondant. I carved the "numbers" from two sheet cakes, and I placed a photo of her to give it more of a personal touch. The scroll work was piped with Royal Icing. sheet cakes.
I made this cake for a little boy's second birthday. It is White almond sour cream cake with a layer of cheesecake as the filling. I made the figures from rice crispies and covered them with fondant. I prefer to do it this way because it makes the figures much lighter on the cake.
This is a baby shower cake I did for a friend. It is my popular coconut/pineapple cake with rum flavored buttercream icing. The cake topper was done with various arts and crafts material. The image was a color printout pasted on foamcore circles. I used scrapbook paper to cover them, and trimmed the boards with ribbon. I got the ideas for the caketoppers from this site http://cakeartist.weebly.com/new-cake-toppers-i.html
